Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of this project?

The purpose is to improve safety and update the Village’s infrastructure system.

Will construction continue through the winter?

It is anticipated that the Contractor will have a winter shutdown period from November 2025 to April 2026. This is typical within the Chicagoland area due to asphalt plant closures and temperature restrictions on most road building materials.  The contractor may work on the construction of the extension of Hook Drive, between Nicole Lane and Orchard Lane, during the winter period, but will not be working along Nicole Ln. or Woodbine Dr. during the winter shutdown period.

Will the construction noise wake me up?

Per the Village Ordinance, construction working hours are from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays, and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday. No work will occur on Sundays or Holidays.

Will any roads be closed during construction?

All roads will remain open during construction, however, there may be daily lane closures, with flagger activity. Please drive carefully through the construction work zone and follow the applicable temporary construction signage.

Is the Contractor willing to perform private work on my property?

The Contractor is not available nor willing to complete private work outside of the right-of-way.

Will my water service ever be disrupted?

It is possible your water service may have temporary shut downs.  Residents will be notified in advance if this is necessary.

How will the grass parkways be restored?

Landscaped areas disturbed during construction will be restored with pulverized topsoil, lawn mixture-type seed, fertilizer, and soil erosion control blanket.

Will I ever be restricted access to my driveway or entrance?

The Contractor will be required to provide temporary access to all private driveways or public entrances. If it is determined through construction that a closure is required, additional information will be provided on an as-needed basis.
