Nicole Lane Reopens as Roadway Improvements Continue

The contractor completed topsoil respread adjacent to the new sidewalk along the Hook Drive Extension. Most of the concrete curb and gutter was poured along Woodbine Drive and Nicole Lane. Directional drilling began for the proposed traffic signal conduit at the Rollins Road and Nicole Lane/Woodbine Drive intersection, and auguring was completed for the streetlight bases. The contractor also continued grading the aggregate base for roadway widening in preparation for paving and placed the 4-inch Hot Mix Asphalt binder course along the widened sections of Nicole Lane and Woodbine Drive.

The Nicole Lane road closure and detour were removed, and the roadway reopened to traffic early Friday morning, July 3.

Work Anticipated This Week
Final grading behind the new curb and gutter is expected to begin, along with placement of topsoil along Nicole Lane and Woodbine Drive. Small sections of concrete curb and gutter along Woodbine Drive, as well as sidewalk along the north side of Nicole Lane and the east Oak Hill driveway apron, are scheduled to be poured. Completion of the remaining concrete light pole bases for the streetlights is anticipated.

Hot Mix Asphalt binder course paving for the driveways is planned to take place, and seed and blanket installation along Nicole Lane and Woodbine Drive is projected to begin. Installation of the permanent traffic signals at the Rollins Road and Nicole Lane/Woodbine Drive intersection is expected to continue.

Neighborhood Impacts

Construction traffic may be entering and exiting the Hook Drive Extension site at Nicole Lane. Residents and drivers in the area should use caution when traveling near the project entrance. Please watch for construction signage, follow all posted traffic control measures, and visit this website for weekly updates throughout the duration of the project.
